Members are vitally important for JEVI because they are the backbone of the organization and make a significant contribution to its suicide prevention mission.

Being a JEVI member makes a difference

Being a JEVI member means sharing our core beliefs:

  • Suicide is not an option.
  • Listening to our loved ones is a key step in suicide prevention.
  • It is crucial to dismantle the taboos surrounding the issue to reduce the number of suicides.
  • We can all play a role in suicide prevention and, together, we will achieve this.

This is why members have such value. This is how they can play a role within our organization.

Community engagement
Members are often members of the public who share a deep attachment to their community.
Their involvement demonstrates a commitment to the Eastern Townships region and a desire to contribute to public well-being.

Financial support and fundraising
Members can play a key role in fundraising and financial support for the organization. Their voluntary financial contributions and their participation in fundraising activities allow JEVI to continue its operations and keep them free.

Awareness building
Members play an essential role in raising awareness of suicide prevention. Their involvement in JEVI activities reduces the stigmatization around mental health and suicide.

Democracy and governance
Members can take part in the organization’s governance by electing representatives to the Board of Directors or contributing to important decisions at annual general meetings. This internal democracy ensures that JEVI’s activities reflect community values and needs.

Thank you very much for your commitment to suicide prevention!
